NCEA exams resume tomorrow, with the single largest exam, level 1 English, to be sat by nearly 49,000 students.

National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA) and Scholarship exams run for four weeks. The first week included some of those with most candidates, including level 1 and 2 maths and level 2 English.

Monday's English exam will be sat by 48,700 students.

The Qualifications Authority said its team of 1750 markers had already begun marking. All papers will be marked by Christmas, with results released online from mid-January.

It is urging students and their parents to make sure they know the exam timetable and to make time for study.
