French tourists injured in car accident

8:30 am on 24 October 2015

Two French tourists have sustained only moderate injuries after losing control of their vehicle, rolling off a cliff and into a river.

It is understood their car plunged 15 metres into the river in the upper Cobb Valley, near the Cobb Power Station, just before 7pm yesterday.

The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter says despite the vehicle rolling several times, the pair were able to free themselves and scramble back up the road to get help.

The tourists were taken to Nelson Hospital in a moderate condition.
