One man has died and another has been injured after falling from a farm bike at Rere near Gisborne.
The police said the pair were thrown from a quad bike when it went off a farm track and rolled 15 to 20 metres down a bank.
A 25-year-old man died at the scene and a 17-year-old man was flown to Gisborne Hospital with leg and shoulder injuries.
