A Hutt Valley firm has been fined $24,375 after a joinery machine cut off four of an employee's fingers.
Worksafe said European Profile Company failed to protect the worker because guards were not fitted on the machine.
The accident happened in May last year, when a piece of wood jammed in the planing machine and the man slipped while trying to pull it out of the back.
The company was also ordered to pay $17,500 reparation to the victim.
