A motorcyclist has been charged with manslaughter and failing to stop after the death of a pedestrian in Rotorua earlier this month.
Paige Johnson, 24, died in hospital after the crash on Edmund Road on 15 June.
Police earlier said the motorcyclist overtook a stationary car at about 2.15pm, hitting Johnson, after the car stopped for him to cross at a designated pedestrian crossing.
Police conducted search warrants in Hamilton and Rotorua today, and arrested a 31-year-old Hamilton man.
He is due to appear in Hamilton District Court tomorrow, charged with manslaughter, failing to stop to ascertain injury or death, and driving while disqualified.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Van Kempen said police hoped the arrest would provide some relief to Johnson's family.
"We still have a long way to go, but today's arrest marks an important milestone in our investigation, and the public has played a significant part in today's arrest.
"What happened on 15 June was a tragedy and was felt through our community, and I want to thank everyone who has assisted us throughout the investigation."
