Victoria Davis is an environmentalist who served as Golden Bay’s sole radiographer for 22 years, and presents The World According to Golden Bay on radio station Fresh FM. Late last month she was discharged without conviction in the Nelson District Court on charges of cultivating and possessing cannabis.

Dr Joyce Alberts is a clinical psychologist at the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service in Burwood, Christchurch. She has completed a Master of Science and a PhD in the area of false memories.

 

9:05 Greg O’Brien

Greg O’Brien is a poet, painter, writer and curator at large. He co-edited and has work featured in the 2011 book, Kermadec: Nine Artists Explore the South Pacific (Pew Environment Group/Tauranga Art Gallery, ISBN 978-0-473-20017-6), and co-curated the travelling exhibition of the same name, currently showing at the New Zealand Maritime Museum in Auckland (to 1 July). Greg’s most recent book of poetry is Beauties of the Octagonal Pool (AUP, ISBN 978-1-86940-579-3). He was a guest writer at this year’s Cork Spring Poetry Festival in Ireland, and will be a guest at the 2012 Auckland Writers and Readers Festival (9-13 May).

 

9:45 Doug Backhouse

Doug Backhouse is manager of landscape architecture for HB Lanarc in Nanaimo, Canada, and has focused his professional career since 1991 on the development of healthy communities in rural British Columbia and on central Vancouver Island in particular. He is visiting New Zealand to explore possibilities for contributing to the rebuilding of a resilient Christchurch following the earthquake and aftershocks.

 

10:05 Playing Favourites with Hollie Fulbrook a.k.a. Tiny Ruins

Bristol-born, New Zealand-raised musician and songwriter Hollie Fullbrook records and performs as Tiny Ruins. She released her debut album, Some Were Meant For Sea, last year and is a finalist for the 2012 Taite Music Prize. Tiny Ruins toured the UK, Europe and Australia earlier this year, and will return to the UK for a tour and festival appearances, following concerts in Wellington (11 April, Mighty Mighty), Auckland (22 April, Wine Cellar) and Dunedin (27 April, Chicks Hotel).

Sonny Tilders is creative director of The Creature Technology Company, which built the animatronic dinosaurs and dragons for Walking with Dinosaurs: the Live Experience (2007-2011), and for How To Train Your Dragon: the Arena Spectacular, which is coming to Vector Arena in Auckland (18-22 April).

Award-winning New Zealand filmmaker Pietra Brettkelly is the producer and director of two upcoming documentaries: Inside Outward Bound: The New Zealand Journey, will screen on Prime TV on 19 April, and Maori Boy Genius will screen nationwide during the 2012 New Zealand International Film Festival.
