9:07 Country Life

The 300 metre long 'Wall of Waiau' cuts though a paddock on Dave and Rebekah Kelly's North Canterbury farm. It was created during the 7.8 Kaikoura earthquake in November 2016. Their 2000 hectare sheep and beef property has also got a new 30 metre deep lake. "It's great for jet-boating and water skiing," jokes Dave. The couple are still repairing damaged water pipes and fences but issues with their insurance company mean a number of farm buildings are yet to be fixed. Rebekah says working around the damage is stressful. They have shorn their sheep three times since the quake but can only use part of the woodshed.
