Bic Runga and Cass Basil (Tiny Ruins) have a new project called King Sweeties and we’re proud to present their second single ‘Lydia’, which is out on Friday.
‘Lydia’ is from King Sweeties’ forthcoming debut EP We Are The Bosses. Produced and engineered by Bic and mixed by Kody Nielson, ‘Lydia’ comes with a mesmerising video by talented illustrator Frances Haszard.
King Sweeties featues Cass on vocals and bass, and Bic on drums, engineering and production. The songs from their upcoming EP were co-written and recorded at The Box, Bic’s home studio.
Their spare arrangements, capture the sound of the two playing in a room together, and let the joy of the rhythm section shine through.
The video was made by talented Auckland illustrator Frances Haszard, who’s made vids for the likes of Lawrence Arabia and Julien Dyne. Her playful yet strong animations really capture the mood of the track.
