Bic Runga and Cass Basil (Tiny Ruins) have a new collaborative project called King Sweeties! RNZ Music is proud to be the first to share their debut single ‘Let’s Just Stay in Bed’.
King Sweeties is a Cass and Bic’s new recording project, with Cass on vocals and bass, and Bic on drums, engineering and production.
‘Let’s Just Stay in Bed’ was co-written and recorded at The Box, Bic’s home studio, and mixed by Kody Nielson. It’s the first single off King Sweeties’ forthcoming EP ‘We are the Bosses’.
Capturing the sound of the pair playing in a room together, the spare arrangements let the joy of the rhythm section shine through.
‘Let's Just Stay in Bed’ is the perfect introduction to King Sweeties’ modern, post punk sound.
The video was made by talented Auckland illustrator Frances Haszard, who’s made vids for the likes of Lawrence Arabia and Julien Dyne. Her playful yet strong animations really capture the mood of the track.
