10:20 Samoa heads back to the polls

Samoa's Head of State has called for a second general election on May 21st to bring an end to a deadline in parliament. The incumbent Human Rights Protection Party or HRPP and the newcomer FAST Party have been tied on 26 seats each since last month's election. Karyn speaks with RNZ Pacific's correspondent in Samoa - Autagavaia Tipi Autagavaia for the latest.

10.25 Tributes for Silver Fern great Margaret Forsyth

Silver Fern great Margaret Forsyth has died after a battle with cancer. First selected for the Silver Ferns in 1979, as a 17-year-old, she was the youngest Silver Fern to play at a netball World Cup. She went on to play in three World Cup tournaments and win two in 1979 and 1987. Margaret was the coach of the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic in 2017 and 2018. Tonight Hamilton's Mayor, Paula Southgate, remembers Margaret Forsyth as a Hamilton City Councillor who served for three terms.

10:30 Mexico train crash kills 20, injures 70 

At least 20 people have been killed and 70 hurt in Mexico City, when an overpass carrying a metro train partly collapsed on cars on a road below. The collapse happened at 20 past ten in the evening.  At least one train car is trapped underneath where the overpass is collapsed. Journalist Ioane (Y0-ahn) Grillo, descibes harrowing scenes as people try to find loved ones in the rubble.

10:45 20 million trees for the Kaipara Harbour

More than 20 million trees and other natives are to be planted around New Zealand's biggest harbour in a $200 million Kaipara Moana Remediation project.
