10:30 Planet Mercury is about to transit the Sun

Almost 250 years to the day since James Cook saw the transit of Mercury across the sun, while anchored in New Zealand waters - and it's happening again - tonight.

A group of enthusiasts are gathering to watch it happening and hoping the cloud will clear so they can  view the transit of Mercury from the same spot Cook would have watched it. Tonight's organiser is the director of Otago Museum, Dr Ian Griffin, who speaks with Karyn from Cooks Beach, Mercury Bay, on the Coromandel Peninsula.

Mercury will transit the Sun early tomorrow in a rare spectacle.

10:45 Do It Yourself: Making Kombucha

Kombucha has exploded in popularity in the past few years.  In any supermarket, cans and bottles of the stuff have taken over a large amount of fridge space.

It's basically fermented black or green tea made into a tangy, fizzy drink.

In our occasional series, Do It Yourself, Karyn talks to Bettina Mayer, who runs kombucha workshops in Kapiti, north of Wellington.
