10:30 Iwi Leader sues the Government over climate change
The Far North iwi leader who said he would take the government to court over inaction on climate change has filed papers at the High Court in Wellington this afternoon.
Mike Smith from Ngā Puhi and Ngāti Kuri is the chair of the Climate Change Iwi Leaders Group.
He is seeking a declaration from the Crown that it will halve greenhouse gas emissions in the next decade and eliminate them by 2050.
