Thousands of people across the north island have endured another night without power and cellphone coverage. Prime Minister Chris Hipkins says the damage from Cyclone Gabrielle was the most significant since Cyclone Bola in 1988. With massive damage to roads across the country, he's warning people to stay home and avoid non-essential travel. So will there be some respite from the wild weather?
