Christchurch breaks records with high of 36.7 degrees

Christchurch recorded it's hottest temperature on record yesterday, with the mercury reaching 36.7 degrees. The 1979 Christchurch record of 35.9 was also exceeded elsewhere in the region, with one unofficial report of 40 degrees in Rakaia.
