Christchurch prepares for HOT weather, fires

Christchurch is set to get to 36 degrees today and with two fires breaking out yesterday afternoon - crews are on high alert. Two helicopters and six fire crews fought a blaze on Balmoral Hill in McCormacks Bay on Christchurch's Port Hills. And houses were evacuated and two sheds destroyed in a fire in Pines Beach near Kaiapoi, just north of Christchurch. North Canterbury's principal Rural Fire Officer, Bruce Janes, told Sally Murphy the weather is creating the perfect storm. Nathan spoke with Christchurch weather commentator Richard Green and Christchurch City Councillor for the Harewood Ward Aaron Keown, who had a bit of an encounter with the fires yesterday.
