From First Up, 5:42 am on 11 July 2019

A school holiday programme is hoping to address the gender imbalance in the music industry.

This week 42 girls, trans and non-binary young people are taking part in Girls Rock! Camp Poneke.

They're spending their days at Massey University learning vocals, guitar, bass, drums and keyboard - and on Saturday will perform for their family and friends. Video journalist Ana Tovey went along to meet some of the tutors and students.
