In South Canterbury, Geraldine is home to a unique vinyl and coffee outlet called The Record Keeper. It's entirely powered by solar power and a bit of a stage for up and coming musicians
Next week Geraldine's theatre, cinema and town hall celebrates its centenary. It will be marked by film screenings accompanied by live music. Legendary band The Bats will provide the soundtrack to 1922 silent horror film Nosferatu.
Geraldine has a proud history when it comes to music. Many up and coming musicians tour through here, its been known for Peter King with his lathe cut records and its the town Jordan Luck grew up in. More recently musician Lorina Harding has been fundraising as one of the founders of the Geraldine Academy of Performance and Arts for the purchase of a 1907 church hall for the community.
The Record Keeper's Stephen Drew joins us for this week's Culture 101 Regional Wrap.
