AT THE MOVIES #816       THE BIG ATTRACTION

Simon Morris wonders if the thing that’s going to get people back to the cinemas isn’t the much-missed, major blockbusters, but simply some good movies.

Baby done is another of the recent run of New Zealand comedies – but it’s got certain extra advantages.   Star is the hugely popular Rose Matafeo, and it’s written by the team behind the fondly remembered Fantail – writer Sophie Henderson and director Curtis Vowell.

Monsoon is the story of a former Vietnamese refugee returning home to scatter his mother’s ashes.  Stars Henry Golding (Crazy rich Asians).

And Honest thief stars Liam Neeson displaying another set of skills – bank robbery.  Featuring Kay Walsh (Emily in Paris) and directed by Mark Williams (Ozark).
