Donating winter energy payments to those in need

From Afternoons, 1:27 pm on 29 May 2019

We're not yet in the grips of winter but the first of this years Energy Payments have been paid to help those in need prepare.

The payments go out automatically to those on a range of benefits, and the NZ super - even those who aren't in need of extra assistance.

That's where the Super Warm Fund comes in. It was set up last year to allow for people to give the money back if they don't need it and donate to those who do.  Auckland Foundation's Chief Executive Mark Longbottom explains.
