Binge Eating Disorder, or BED, is the most common eating disorder around the world.

Despite this, it was only recognised as a diagnosable disorder nine years ago.

Considering it is closely associated with major health complications like heart disease, diabetes, and obesity, we wanted to know why.

Post-doctoral fellow with the Department of Psychological Medicine at University of Otago in Christchurch Dr Hannah Kennedy is currently studying BED, and she joins me now to tell us more about it.

1:25 Lazy Sunday sneaker project helping more rangitahi take part in sport

Thanks to the efforts of a young Queen Margaret College student, more children are getting the right footwear so they can take part in sports. 

Maia Mariner started Lazy Sneakers when she was just 12, to get people to donate their unwanted sports shoes to give to others who couldn't afford them.

She is now going to share her story at the IWG World Conference on Women and Sport in Auckland. Maia speaks to Jesse about her project and addressing some of the most prestigious women in sport!

1:35 First woman to become super rugby head coach, Crystal Kaua

While attention might be firmly fixed on the Rugby World Cup - women's rugby is also gearing up for its second season of Super Rugby.

The Super Rugby Aupiki competition, involving four teams - the Blues, Chiefs Manawa, Hurricanes Poua and Christchurch-based Matatū - will be played over five weekends early next year.

And for the first time we'll see two Super rugby teams led by female head coaches.

One of them is Crystal Kaua - she's been promoted to head coach of Chiefs Manawa - who just happen to be the defending champions.
