Perhaps it’s partly circumstances and partly old-fashioned perceptions. And she tells a story of how she’s financially outdone a man she dated. 

Mary comments on the letter, and looks at gender differences in money management, and in investing. Men tend to trade more often and to take more risk – for good and bad. Mary also considers why those differences might be there.
