Australian farmer Rob Cook has battled frostbite, heavy rain and a menacing wild bull in an epic 700-kilometre trek across the Tanami Desert, from the remotest cattle station in the country to Alice Springs — in a wheelchair. Rob is a quadraplegic who took on the challenge of crossing the desert to raise money for his Nuffield Scholarship, which gives farmers the chance to travel abroad.

The North Otago Museum is trying to solve the mystery of an old nightgown. Records say it belonged to Victoria Mary Augusta Louise Olga Pauline Claudine Agnes of Teck, who married King George in June 1911. The nightgown is part of an exhibition to mark the centenary of their marriage. Chloe Searle is the curator of the museum.
