1:15 Your Place: Otane in Central Hawkes Bay
Otane got its start in 1884 when sections in the area were auctioned off in Napier, each fetching around £70 at the time. Within a year the railway was operating, and this became an important terminus. Today Otane is still the centre of a large farming community and has population of just a little over 500.
