Steve Gurney and Steve Moffat are re-tracing the historic journey of mountaineers Marmaduke Dixon and George Mannering on Aoraki-Mt Cook. One Steve is doing the trip with all modern gear, and the other Steve looks like a climber out of a museum wearing old period gear including a tweed jacket and oilskin overtrousers. Dixon and Mannering came withing 60 meteres of the top of Mt Cook 120 years ago.
A 12-year-old Hamilton boy has come up with a device to help find the nearest parking space. He's one of the winners of the 10th annual Bright Sparks awards.
