Ten cases of typhoid have been confirmed in Fiji's northern division.

The government said there are eight cases in Macuata and two in Savusavu.

Three of these people are in hospitals in Labasa and Savusavu.

Health teams are carrying out contact tracing, and have collected water samples from the affected areas, where movement has been restricted.

Officials have been concerned about the spread of disease in the wake of Cyclone Yasa, which struck nearly a month ago.
