Plans are afoot for three major new hotels in French Polynesia, with construction on the first site expected to start within months.
The projects on the islands of Bora Bora, Tahiti and Tahaa were presented by a local developer Joel Allain to both the president and the tourism minister.
A statement said the first two projects were worth about $US30 million each while the projected cost for the planned five-star resort in Tahaa had not been disclosed.
The Tahaa project is for 75 villas on a hectare on Tehotu Motu, with work not expected to be completed before 2026.
The Tahiti project is conceived as mainly a transit hotel near the international airport.
President Edouard Fritch welcomed the plans for the revival of tourism after the global pandemic.
The Covid-19 outbreak has more than halved tourist numbers since the territory reopened its borders in July after a nearly four-month suspension of flights.
