PNG and CNMI register handful more Covid-19 cases

Both Papua New Guinea and the Northern Marianas have had a small increase in Covid-19 cases.

Papua New Guinea now has 534 confirmed cases of Covid-19 after two more were reported in the National Capital District over the last 24 hours.

The latest cases are both male, a 34 year old from Morata and a 23 year old from Hohola, bringing the number of cases in the NCD alone to 318.

The 34 year old was tested at a drive-through and showed no symptoms.

The 23 year old tested at Gerehu hospital after experiencing fever and headache.

Seven people have died of the coroanvirus in PNG.

CNMI hits 70 cases

The Northern Marianas now has 70 cases of Covid-19 after an arrival tested positive on Sunday.

The person was identified through travel screening and has now been moved isolation for close monitoring.

Contact tracing for the most immediate contacts of the new confirmed case, including passengers on the same flight.

Of the total 70 confirmed cases, 43 cases have been identified through port-of-entry screening.

Of those cases, 28 originated from the US mainland, nine from a foreign country, and seven from Guam.
