Vanuatu Builders Construction and Allied Industries president, James Matariki, has given the Vanuatu Tender Board 10 days to explain the decision to have a foreign company build the new Ministry of Finance Office in Luganville.

The Tender Board gave China Civil Engineering and Construction Company the nod to build the new offices, even though its bid was the highest, he said.

He said local bids, that were up to $US191,000 cheaper, were rejected.
