Hong Kong-based company Bridge Investment Group said it had leased a 49.5-metre ferry named Sand Diamond, which could carry 290 people and more than 30 cars.

The Sand Diamond was expected to begin regular daily sailings by the end of the year, the company said.

Bridge Investment Group's own casino development on the island is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2020.

The launch of ferry service is a welcome move for the people of Tinian as currently the only way to travel to and from the island is by air.
