Samoa's former Electoral Commissioner, Papalii Malietau, is facing 12 charges including forgery and fraud.

The accused appeared in the supreme court on Monday but did not enter a plea because the prosecution charges have not been finalised.

Three years ago, Malietau's service was terminated as a result of a Public Service Commission's inquiry into breaches of his duties and misconduct.

Two months ago police launched an investigation.
