Authorities in Wallis and Futuna say there is an increasing number of people from New Caledonia registering for driving tests.
According to local television, every month last year about 50 people living outside the territory applied for a driver's licence.
The cost is about $US270 for non-residents and about $US75 for locals.
However, the cost of getting a licence in New Caledonia is $US850.
A woman visting from New Caledona told the local broadcaster that taking the test in Wallis is easier in part because there are no traffic lights.
