Drivers caught drink driving or refusing to be tested will now lose their licence on the spot.

Drviers were previously allowed to keep their licence until they were summoned in court.

Also affected by the change are drivers found to have exceeded the speed limit by 40 kilometres an hour and those causing a fatal accident.

A licence can be suspended for up to a year.

Those caught driving while suspended can be jailed for up to three months.
