The 13 strong team from New Zealand is part of a Multinational Observer Group which will report on the 14 November election.

Former Labour MP Ross Robertson is already in Fiji observing and he'll be joined by Darroch Ball, Poto Williams, Louisa Wall and Michael Wood and a number of New Zealand officials.

New Zealand's foreign minister Winston Peters said New Zealand's proud to be supporting Fiji's election.

He said the observers will help give the people of Fiji, and the international community, confidence in the election outcome.

New Zealand's also donated election supplies and provided technical assistance to the Fijian Elections Office.

Australia, India and Indonesia are leading the observer group.
