Tonga man arrested after being found with methamphetamine

Tongan police have arrested a 34-year-old man with over 10 grams of methamphetamine packed and ready for sale.

Police said a search warrant was executed at a residence in Hofoa on Wednesday morning and illicit drugs were seized along with cash, electronic devices and fine mats.

Estimated street value of the methamphetamine seized is $US4,400.

The acting Commander at the Central Police Station, Siosifa Latu said the arrest demonstrates the focus on capturing and prosecuting those responsible for the harm destructive drugs cause to youths, families and the community.

The suspect remains in police custody while the investigation continues.
