The CNMI Office of Homeland and Security Emergency Management Services said tropical storm conditions remains in effect for Rota, Tinian, and Saipan.
It said this means tropical storm conditions, including damaging winds of more than 70 kilometres an hour are possible within 24 to 36 hours.
Saipan Mayor David Apatang said he and the parade organising committee decided to cancel on the advice of the National Weather Service in Guam.
Officials in the CNMI have told the public to be prepared - to gas up their cars, withdraw cash, and stock up on basic necessities.
