Haze from the Kilauea volcano on Hawai'i has travelled over 6,000 kilometres to reach the Northern Marianas Islands and Guam again.

The National Weather Service said the volcanic haze is expected to linger across the area for much of this week.

The service said it would decrease periodically due to developing showers but the easterly tradewinds would continue to funnel the haze toward the Micronesian islands and reduce visibility there.

While the haze is not expected to cause widespread health problems, the National Weather Service said people suffering from respiratory health issues should limit outdoor activities.

The blue-grey haze first impacted the island in May before dissipating.
