MP for Madang Bryan Kramer has started a protest on Facebook alleging that activities within the daily papers contributes to "fake news" on a daily basis.

He also alleged a reporter from one of the newspapers was involved in corrupt activities.

The Secretary of the PNG Media Council Belinda Kora said Mr Kramer needed to back-up his allegations.

"We want people, not only the leader, but also the public in general who have any issues in relation to the conduct of our council members to also come forward and report them and of course bring with them facts, evidence, documents so we can be able to address them appropriately."

Belinda Kora said Mr Kramer's campaign had caused a stir in the media industry in PNG, and the Council issued a statement to ease members'concerns and also the public.
