Solomon Islands police at Kirakira in Makira-Ulawa Province have charged six teenagers with multiple serious crimes.
The provincial police commander, superintendent Peter Sitai, said the youths were charged with malicious damage, intimidation, carrying weapons, trespass, break-ins and making home brew.
Mr Sitai said the charges followed an incident at Pirupiru Community High School on Ulawa Island late last month.
He said the youths allegedly entered the school grounds, damaged school property and threatened students and staff with bush knives.
Clamp down on nuisance behaviour Rennell and Bellona
Police in Solomon Islands' Rennell and Bellona province, meanwhile, are mounting a "zero-tolerance" operation to curb anti-social behaviour in the provincial capital.
The provincial police commander, Sergeant Chris Tongak, said there had been an increase in nuisance behaviour, including people being drunk and disorderly and several traffic offences had been committed.
Mr Tongak said there also seemed to be an increase in cases of domestic violence and the consumption of homebrew.
He said the police would be launching a zero-tolerance operation this month in order to deal with the unruly behaviour.
At the same time, officers would carry out community awareness programmes in villages throughout the province.
