Sport: PNG Hunters suffer fourth straight loss

10:53 am on 30 April 2018

The Papua New Guinea Hunters rugby league team continued their slide down the Queensland Cup table after a fourth straight loss defeat.

The visitors were three tries down after 20 minutes against league leaders Burleigh at Pizzey Park but three missed conversions kept the deficit to 12 points.

Junior Rau got on the end of a Watson Boas grubber kick to get the Hunters on the board just after the half hour mark before Adex Wera crossed eight minutes later to close the gap to 12-10 at half-time.

Butler Morris got on the end of another grubber to put the Hunters into the lead three minutes into the second spell before Charlie Simon slotted a penalty to extend their buffer to six points.

However, that was where the visitor's scoring efforts ended as the Bears ran in three tries in the final ten minutes to put the gloss on a 34-18 victory and reclaim the Kokoda Cup.
