The Fiji National Provident Fund is cracking down on companies who fail to pay their staff superannuation contributions.

Its chief executive Jaoji Koroi told FBC news the Provident Fund would go as far as seeking Departure Prohibition Orders for the directors of guilty companies.

This would effectively ban them from leaving Fiji until their obligations were met and could also see their passport and other travel documentation seized by police.

Mr Koroi said failure to comply with Provident Fund regulations would amount to fraud.

He called on all members to work with his organisation to ensure their contributions were deducted in a timely manner.

The chief executive also encouraged members to report their own companies if they suspected their superannuation was not being paid.
