The Fiji Sun reported the action relates to a party Facebook post made in July last year alleging wrongful dealings by the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation and its chief executive.

The paper reported documents filed in court state the posting was designed to cause damage, loss of business, trauma and anxiety.

Mr Sayed- Khaiyum was quoted by FBC saying the claims that the broadcaster had been involved in scams for the last few years are a huge insult.

The broadcaster and its chief are seeking damages and a permanent injunction restraining the party or its agents from further posting or distributing the statements or anything similar.

A hearing date is yet to be set.
