Elevating women to leadership and board room positions was the purpose of a training programme held last week in Fiji.

Funded by Australia and New Zealand and supported by the Asian Development Bank, the Women in Leadership Programme was developed by the South Pacific Stock Exchange.
About 30 women were put forward for the programme from the 19 companies listed on the exchange.
It's acting chief executive Krishika Narayan said reasearch had proven that gender diverse leadership added value to corporations.
"Some of the latest research papers have been done by the IMF on gender diversity and female positions, and just by adding one more woman in senior management or on the corporate board it's associated with higher return on assets," said Ms Narayn.
"So why not in Fiji? We have a business case present for it, it was just a matter of picking it up and making sure that Fiji also joins the bandwagon."
Ms Narayan said of 104 directors on the South Pacific Stock Exchange only 13 were women.
