Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Efforts said while it had already raised $US2.4 million to assist 745 residents all over Saipan, it needs another $650,000 to help the 177 individuals still in need of adequate housing.

The agency said if it can raise this amount it could leverage the funding to secure $2.1 million in additional funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

That money would be used to finance the airfares of the Mennonite Disaster Service volunteers, among others, who have been helping with the rebuilding efforts.
