Sport: Holiday in Samoa for Joseph Parker visit

The Samoa government will be hosting a special welcome for the WBO world heavyweight boxing champion, Lupesoli'ai Laaulialemalietoa Joseph Parker, with a half day commission holiday starting at midday tomorrow.

The Cabinet announced the event after Parker and his parents arrived in the country on Sunday.

The programme will kick off with a variety of entertainment in front of the government building in the capital, organised by Digicel.

A parade to introduce the WBO champ and the belt will start from the Fire Service terminal towards the government complex led by Samoa's Royal Police Band.

Samoa Prime Minister, Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi will also speak to the crowd, followed by Duco Events founder and director David Higgins and Parker himself.

The finale will be a big feast funded by the government.
