Pacific CROP bodies ready to help implement Paris Agreement

The Pacific Islands Forum Secretary General Dame Meg Taylor says her agency stands ready to help implement the Paris Agreement on climate change.

The 2015 Paris Agreement aims to arrest the global economy's addiction to fossil fuels and limit a rise in average world temperatures to "well below" 2 degrees celsius above preindustrial times.

The Agreement is a key item on the agenda at the latest UN Climate Change Convention meeting, COP 22, which is underway in Marrakesh in Morocco.

Dame Meg said there now needs to be a focus on tangible global action to support the document.

She said maintaining the momentum is the key.

Dame Meg said the Forum's Council of Regional Organisations in the Pacific stands ready to assist.
