There have been no reported cases of zika in the CNMI but health authorities are monitoring the situation to try and ensure it doesn't arrive.

The $400,000 grant is part of $US16 million given by the CDC to 40 states and territories and is based on the risk of zika virus transmission in the area and the availability of local funds.

In American Samoa, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, mosquitoes are already spreading the disease.
