Vanuatu is to get a new patrol boat to help in the fight against illegal fishing.

The Vanuatu Daily Post reports Australia will provide the boat and it is due in 2018.

The archipelago only has one patrol boat, the RVS Tukoro, which was also provided by Australia.

Vanuatu has a 680,000 square kilometre exclusive economic zone.
