Mynah numbers in American Samoa lowered by trapping

American Samoas's Wildlife Department says it has rid the territory of more than 600 Myna Birds as part of an effort to eradicate the pest.

The Department hired an expert, Susana Saavedra Cruz, earlier this year for a large-scale trapping exercise.

Ms Cruz says she has one assistant and ten volunteers for the trapping operation, but she needs many more.

She says early reports suggest the operation is having success in the villages that have them.
