France has agreed to meet two key requests from Wallis and Futuna and both relieve it of its health care debt and lower power prices.

This was reported by Wallisian leaders after meeting the French prime minister, Manuel Valls, who they say may visit Wallis next year when he takes a trip to New Caledonia.
The president of the territorial assembly, Mika Kulimoetoke, says Paris has agreed to help settle its 24 million US dollar debt with the hospital in New Caledonia, which takes patients flown from Wallis and Futuna.
The French government has also agreed to support a law change to lower prices to the level in mainland France.
Currently, the territory's consumers pay five times more than in France while they earn three time less.
