The French National Assembly has passed a bill that will lower the price of electricity in Wallis and Futuna, where prices are currently five times higher than in France.
The adopted bill enables customers in the territory to enjoy the same prices as those on mainland territories, with the deficit offset by a government contribution to the power company.
Wallis and Futuna's power comes from oil generators, with the price of oil skyrocketing in recent years.
